COUPLING OF HYDRO POWER PLANT AND AIR TURBINE EQUIPMENT AS AN EFFECTIVE IDEA FOR THE COUNTRIES WITH MOUNTAIN HYDROPOWER INDUSTRY

Main positive sides of coupling hydro power plant with air turbine equipment (ATE) are: significant reduction of investments, and, what is most important, operation of hydro power plant with guaranteed installed capacity (generation of base electric power) during the entire year. Special attention is paid to using the so called “humid” ATE’s i. e. air-steam-turbine equipment (ASTE). Particular units of coupling hydro power plants to ASTE are reviewed – Zhinvali hydro power plant and Vartsikhe hydro power plant cascade. Calculation results are provided in tables and summary tables.

Issues of reconstructing the functioning power generating units of JSC Tbilisi state regional power plant and Mtkvari Energy Limited are also reviewed.





NEW MODEL TO TRANSFORM THE WAVE ENRGY “MERABA”

New model of transforming the wave energy “Meraba” is totally different from the known wave energy converters. New conceptual approach is used. For obtaining energy in the wave transmission, it is necessary to run circular motion of water particles. Transformation of the wave energy occurs simultaneously in all wave phases along the length of several waves. Energy can be obtained both close to the bank and fairly far from it. The following model elements are described: axis, reversible motor, ray, blade, flank. Negative and positive sides of a new model of wave energy transformer are provided. In addition, constructors should take into the account number of circumstances, in particular: if the turbines are too large, they should be fixed; if the turbines are located in parallel, generators should be connected one by one. Generally, the device is ecologically safe, is not noisy and is compact.
