NON-BALANCE OF REACTIVE POWER AND ANALYSIS OF THE COURSE OF TRANSIENT PROCESSES

M.MAKHARADZE
(Georgia)

Probability limits of active power shortage in power receiving system with regard to the imported power taking into the consideration admitted inflow of the reactive power into this very system in emergency shutdown of the intersystem line are analyzed.

Respective curves for particular cases are drafted. It is shown that in running analysis in a wider spectrum, it is possible to develop adequate activities for timely and effective elimination of emergency situation.

CALCULATION OF STRENGTH OF ARCH DAMS WITH A GENERAL CONTOUR AND OPTIMIZATION OF THEIR VOLUME WITH A COMBINED NUMERICAL METHOD

Z.GEDENIDZE, T.KVITSIANI
(Georgia)

The work describes the issues of optimal design of arched dams, when in terms of the geometry of the middle surface, the thicknesses of the design sections of a dam ensuring the equal dam resistance or minimum dam volume are determined. A system of decision equations is presented with five balance equations, three terms of continuity of speed of deformation and one term of complex stressed mode. After the solution of the system, eight internal power factors and optimal thickness are determined unilaterally. The tensions on the contact surface “Dam-base” are determined by the method of finite elements.

LET’S RETURN RIONI RIVER TO KUTAISI

A. GETSADZE
(Georgia)

Technical proposals for implementation of Rioni HHP (HPP) in a completely new way are reviewed. According to the plan developed by the author, it is possible to have three hydropower plants with the total capacity of 55 MW including one 35 MW hydropower plant with the dam and two one-type run-of-river hydropower plants with 10 MW capacity each. At the same time, 15 MW capacity of Gumati HHP 2 are lost.

Practical recommendations for implementing Rioni HHP according to the suggested plan are provided. Construction can be financed by Kutaisi infrastructure, local budget and the sources attracted from energy sector. Perspective drawing of the reviewed scheme is provided.

OPTIMAL WAY OF INCREASING POWER GENERATION IN TRANSCAUCASIA REPUBLICS UNDER MARKET ECONOMY CONDITIONS

N. Kodua
(Georgia)

The issue of selecting optimal way of increasing power generation in Transcaucasia republics under market economy conditions is reviewed. Based on the existing situation in power generation field of Transcaucasia republics, it is suggested to follow the principles of the expected deficit on load demand. Each republic should cover the load demand by such power station the weighted average power cost of which will be as low as possible. This can be fulfilled by just joint efforts of the specialists of neighboring republics.
