The North-South Main Gas Pipeline Rehabilitation Project

The cost of The North-South Main Gas Pipeline Rehabilitation Project is about 35 million US Dollars.  The Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation was an implementing entity for the Energy Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project, while the construction works were carried out by international and Georgian companies selected through the international bidding procedure.

The North-South Main Gas Pipeline Rehabilitation Project is financed by Millennium Challenge Corporation Georgia Fund under the framework of energy-infrastructure rehabilitation project implemented by GOGC.

BP, SOCAR and BOTAŞ concluded ratification of a of Gas transportation document

British BP, SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic) and Turkish BOTAŞ have ratified all 14 documents concerning gas transportation from Shahdeniz deposit.

According to the Azerbaijan information agency “Trend” signed agreement comprises continuance operations of Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline and complete exploitation of Shahdeniz deposits.

JSC Georgian State Electrosystem continues to pay off the old debts


JSC Georgian State Electrosystem continues to pay off the debts arising from unpaid wages of employees in 1998-2003 years.  In this regard, Chief of the Rehabilitation Department of Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE), Sulkhan Zumburidze and First Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Georgia – Mariam Valishvili have met with the employees and introduced them the payment procedures, on December 1, 2011. Company’s debts in the last years amounted to more than 3 mln GEL. Since 2008 till now, company has covered 474,921 GEL. Debt repayment will be carried out in stages and will be finished in 2013. GSE will pay GEL 917,017 this year. The Company will partly reimburse the salary-, business travel- and imprest -payments of the 1998-2003 years to former and current employees.

Applications on debts are submitted to GSE daily. In regions, information on debts is accumulated in GSE regional networks. Data on debts of persons are sent to the head office of GSE, where they get prepared for transfer.

Prime Minister: Energo-Pro Georgia will Construct New HPPs in Georgia

Czech company Energo-Pro Georgia will launch the construction of new hydro power plants in Georgia, Georgian Prime Minister Nikoloz Gilauri told reporter after his meeting with the company representatives on November 29.

Wind Could Become Brazil's Second Power Generation Source in 2015

It's one of those stories everyone's talking about, at least in Brazil's wind energy space. And it should come as no surprise. Under its newly launched energy expansion plan, the government intends to boost installed wind power generation capacity to 11.5 GW by 2020 from a mere 1.5 GW now, bringing new and exciting investment opportunities for developers and entrepreneurs.

Climate Change 

UN Climate Change Conference in Durban, South Africa 

The Georgian delegation will participate in UN Climate Change Conference held in Durban, South Africa. The conference will bring together representatives from world's governments, international organizations and civil society.

The delegates from 192 countries and experts will seek to come up with a new agreement regarding Climate Change. The discussions will seek to advance the implementation of the Convention and the Kyoto Protocol, as well as the Bali Action Plan, agreed at COP 13 in 2007, and the Cancun Agreements, reached at COP 16 last December. The aim of the Conference is to decide upon the further extension of Kyoto Protocol as its validity period expires by the year 2012.

The UN Climate Change Conference started at 28th of November and will come to an end on 9th of December.

Goga Khachidze Introduced Eenvironmental Education Project Results to Teachers

Mr. Goga Khachidze, Minister of Environment Protection of Georgia met 30 teachers from Tbilisi schools and he summed up the activities done through the whole year with them. The activities serve to raise environmental awareness and education level of the school students.

There was held an award ceremony of the schools which participated in the environmental education campaign "Hour of Garden Birds". The Minister awarded the certificates to the teachers.
